Digital TV Hook-Up

COSTS

Digital TV Hook-Up is FREE.

If you have Digital TV Service and move from your current residence to another residence within our service area, and want to continue with our service, a time and material charge will apply.
If you want to move your set-top box in your house after the installation, a $40.00 charge will apply.
You must have Coax cable run throughout your house, if you do not, but want digital TV service in a second, or third, or forth, or so on, room, we charge $0.20 / foot and Time to run it for you. You may also run it yourself if you wish.
If you already have coax cable installed in your house (any room which has cable TV or a Dish Reciever, or a split from any other TV service) we will make your connecitons for free.

REMOTE CONTORLS

Your service comes with 1 free remote control. Any additional remote controls you may like to purchase are available at a one time cost of $35.00 each, and belong to you after purchased.

We will replace your remote if it should stop working or malfunctions.
We can not be responsible for remotes damaged by accidents. A replacement would have to be purchased.

The set-top box and 1 free remote are property of the Venus Telephone Corporation, and must be returned should you ever cancel your service, or move from the area. If these items are not returned after cancellation, we reserve the right to bill you, the customer, the full replacement cost of $560.00 per service.
Our remote control can change the channels on any TV in your house, however, they can only be programmed to control the volume, mute and power to 1 TV.
You can purchase as many remote controls as you would like for a one time charge of $35.00 each.
You will need at least 1 remote per stream of video you recieve.

PACKAGES

You may subscribe or cancel any TV package at any time. You will only be billed for the amount of time you had the package.

HOW IT WORKS - "The Installation"

First, we hang a DSL filter on the outside of your house, beside your Telephone Interface. The DSL Filter is about the same size and shape as you Telephone Interface. We then connect your service to the filter to take the noise off of your telephone line created by the Digital Video Stream. The Video streams are data, just like an incoming fax or your computer when on the internet via a dial-up conneciton. We then run a CAT-5 cable from the filter to your main TV or desired set-top box placement, (determined by you and us at the time of the install).

We then hook up your main TV, and or VCR to our set-top box using RG-6 coax cable. If additional TV's are desired to be connected, we then run coax (if not already in place) to other TV(s). A time and material charge will apply if you wnat us to run coax to additional TVs. Please note that CAT-5 is only used from your telephone service to your set-top box. (CAT-5 currently has no interface on TV sets that support video streams) ie - your TV has no ethernet ports, but rather a coax input, as well as S-Video, and RCA inputs and outputs.

Finally, we program our remotes to contol your TV's power, volume, and mute button. This eliminates the hassel of having to use two seperate remotes for regular TV viewing. Please note that although our remotes will work most TV sets, there are some TV's that are too old, or maybe have never had a remote control. Our remote will still change the channels, but not work any TV functions.

Another note regarding TV programming: If you own a Phillips Magnavox TV, it may not be 100% compatible with our remote control. We can show you a work around during installation.

LIMITATIONS

We are limited to 2 streams of video per set-top box. If you have 3 TV's, and want our service, two TV's must share programming. In other words: TV#1 will be able to watch one thing: TV#2 will be able to watch something else: and TV#3 can choose to watch the same thing as TV#1 or TV#2.

There are, however, no limitations to the number of TV's you can hook up to our system. We currently have several customers with 5 or 6 TV's hooked to 1 set-top box.

If you want two set-top boxes, so you can watch 4 different programs at one time, but you must have a second telephone line and pay for 2 seperate services (TV and Telphone).

Venus Digital TV is a Distance Sensitive Technology. You must live within 2 miles of a Fiber Termination Point to recieve 2 streams of video.

Not all customers are able to receive Digital Video Service. Some customers are only able to receive one video stream while a small portion are not able to receive the service at all. Please contact our main office if you are interested in Digital TV service, and we will let you know if you are able to receive two full streams of video.

Although not 100% of our customers are able to recieve Digital Video Service, All Venus Telephone customers are able to recieve DSL High Speed Interent.
