The 1985 Honda ATC250SX

One of my favorite trikes of all times!!! The ATC 250SX. A close relative to the 250ES Big Red, this trike sports electric start, reverse and shaft drive. This low maintenance vehicle is able to overcome some of the roughest terrain mother nature can throw at it. This guy is TOUGH!!!!! We'll see what Tionesta Trikes has in store for this fellow in the future. Right now the only real plans are to cosmetically fix it up, and of coarse, to ride it!

An interesting side note - I bought this from a good fellow named Joe. Joe got it in a trade from some people and never really did anything to it except store it. It seems that it was probably parked because the neutral/reverse plug had become undone from the bottom engine case - thus not allowing it to start. However - I think somone was trying to preserve it when it quit running. Someone filled the gas tank up with anti-freeze. Let me just tell you - antifreeze corodes gas tanks, and fills carberators with so much muck - I can't believe it. I thought this was laughable.

another interesting side note - this threewheelers cables (brakes and choke) are all in really nice operable condition. It just goes to show what storing a trike in a garage can do for it. Without a doubt, if it would have been stored outside, all the cables would be junk!!!!

The Honda ATC250SX was made between 1985 and 1987. It is truley a "Sport/Utility" three wheeler. Sharing it's engine with the now legendary ATC250ES Big Red - it was able to get the work done, but afterwards was able to "play" just about as good as any sport ATC. It's drive train in similiar to it's "Big Red" brother, but not identical. Although the rear ends may be swapped from ES to SX - the gearing is a bit taller in the SX. The SX came stock with 22" rear tires rather that 25" tall tires on the "Big Red" - this is why the gearing is different. 1985 models had all red Fenders and gas tanks, while 1986 and 1987 models had red fenders with white gas tanks. In 1986, Honda Switched out the carberator set up to help with "cold weather" starts.
